The book is comprised of three main parts: - The first part explains the theoretical framework of trans-structures and is also accompanied by photos and diagrams of the laboratory tests. / - The second part shows realized related projects accompanied by interviews with key designers of the buildings. / - The final part introduces a built Trans-structure: Water House experimental pavilion, which utilizes water as building material. Water gives unique aesthetics and structural characteristics to the building with real response ability based on the properties of water, thus allowing liquid engineering to provide a new solution for contemporary sustainable design. The book introduces water as a building material to build unique, responsive-able structures and define a new paradigm for architecture and sustainable design. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Trans-structures are building elements with the response-ability to change according to external conditions in order to maintain stability in terms of structure and/or energy. In this type of building, any effect (structural or thermal load) would generate an immediate affect (a response of the structure). Energy and weight would be counteracted and on a total scale, change would not occur. Such buildings are always in transition from one state to another, unlike conventional structures. This approach is basically the opposite of conventional design methods in engineering when a worst-case scenario is applied to the designed structure. The benefits of trans-structure are not only energy-saving and better thermal comfort, but also create a more innovative and cost-effective building as well. This approach to stability represents a completely new paradigm for sustainability, based on the assumption that strong structures are not truly stable, because real stability comes with response-ability. This book is compromised of two main parts: theoretical essays and an introduction of constructed prototypes. The former lays down the framework of trans-structure and is also accompanied by photos and diagrams of the laboratory tests. The constructed prototypes are each discussed in one or two interviews with a key designer of the project and then discussed with a further analysis of the design. Theoretical essays are written by Matyas Gutai (JSPS Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Tokyo, designer of Water House pavilion and inventor of patented Allwater panel technology). The interviews include project architects and engineers from the Kengo Kuma Architects and professors from universities in Japan, USA and Europe.

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. ZERO GROUP, GUTAI GROUP, YAYOI KUSAMA (illustrator). 1st Edition. ZERO GUTAI KUSAMA. Catalogue for the Exhibition that took place at Bonhams, London, from October 11 through October 20, 2015. Softcovers, 8x10 inches (19.5x26 cm), 119 pages. (Bonhams, London 11 - 20 October 2015). Illustrated throughout in color and b&w. FINE condition, tight, bright, clean and unmarked. From the Bonhams announcement of the show: ****** 20 masterpieces by the Gutai and ZERO groups from a private collection on exhibition at Bonhams from October 11 through October 20. Works by Yayoi Kusama, including Macaroni Shirt, Red Dots and Phallic Bottle Tray, will also be on show. Bonhams is to display lost masterpieces from a private collection by Gutai and ZERO groups for the first time since the 1960s. It offers an opportunity to reassess these ground breaking art movements, both of which have recently been in the spotlight in exhibitions such as Zero: Countdown to Tomorrow at The Guggenheim, New York. Writing about the groups for Bonhams Magazine, Serpentine Co-Director, Hans Ulrich Obrist described the emergence of these artists as one of the great moments of the avant garde in the post war era. Bonhams Head of Contemporary Art, Ralph Taylor, says, "To have the opportunity to host this museum quality collection at Bonhams is a rare and wonderful privilege. It is exactly where Bonhams excels; demonstrating connoisseurship and using the profile of an auction house to rediscover forgotten masterpieces and to champion the very best in Post War & Contemporary art." Among the works to be on view in Bonhams headquarters on New Bond Street are: Three works from Yayoi Kusama's first solo European show in 1965: Macaroni Shirt, Red Dots and Phallic Bottle Tray; Kazuo Shiraga's Red Fan; A suite of four early and delicate works by Jan Schoonhoven; A large piece by Günther Uecker from 1967. The first time ZERO and Gutai art were shown together was at the 1965 Stedelijk Museum's Nul exhibition. In 2006, this Nul 1965 show was reconstructed in the ZERO exhibition at Museum Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf. This was the beginning of the revival in both ZERO and Gutai we have witnessed today.******.
