Cloth. Condition: Near fine. [NAUTICAL / MARINE] [MANUSCRIPT]. 8vo oblong; green textured cloth over board, gilt-stamped title on front; green endpapers; lined and columned pages for owner entries; light scuffing to head and tail of spine; near fine. A purchased Yacht Log Book of the New York residents, E.A. and H.B. Guthries, recording their sailing trips in both neat pencil and ink. The owner notes some current events, "Mussolini resignation on radio," "air patrols," and "submarine crossing the bow," as well as carefully detailed activities of the day and weather conditions while onboard the different sailing vessels named on the title page. Most of the sailing occurs between Cape Cod and Mount Desert Island, Maine. The names of friends encountered along the way, as well as guide names, are noted. It is unclear whether they were guests, paying passengers, or owners, but some of the entries appear to be on vessels they were not personally sailing.
