Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus. First Edition. With this book the University of Oklahoma Press inaugurated a new series of histories, the Oklahoma Horizons Series, sponsored by the Oklahoma Heritage Association. This series has included books on Oklahoma institutions and organizations that… have had a marked influence on the educational, cultural and economic life of Oklahoma. This volume is the first of a series. The University of Tulsa was first called the Presbyterian School for Creek Indian girls and was situated in Muskogee. From that beginning the school changed goals, directions, names, and locations, before becoming firmly established as a private nondenominational university. This volume tells the story. The volume itself has beautiful blue cloth covers with sharp gold lettering on the spine. A small bump at the top of the spine causes me to downgrade condition to near fine. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality Brodart cover. Dust jacket has an approximately 3/4 of an inch tear at the top of the front cover near the spine, also a bit of chipping at the top of the spine. Many would grade a notch higher on both book and dj. This book delineates the history of the University. A nice copy.

Oklahoma Horizons Series. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Near Fine; light tail bump; scant tip wear from shelving. DJ: Ne…ar Fine; Price Clipped; glue remnant on front panel; light edge bumps. Blue leatherette boards and spine with bright gilt and silver lettering on the spine. 358 pp 8vo. This is the first book in the Oklahoma Horizons Series. This book delineates the history of the University from its start in Muskogee as the Presbyterian School for Creek Indian Girls in 1882, later moving to Tulsa as the Henry Kendall College, and finally in 1921 as the University of Tulsa still a Presbyterian School, but reliant more on private funding (oil) than church. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
