Yet she cannot bear to kill an innocent and secretly risks her own life to spare her victims. The author places the story within the context of 17th-century France during the reign of King Louis XIV. The book focuses on the conflict between religious duty, humanity, and personal integrity. The author adeptly weaves themes of morality, power, and the nature of sacrifice into the narrative. Through Iphigenia's story, the author prompts philosophical inquiry into the extent to which individuals should adhere to societal or religious expectations when it requires compromising their own principles. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
