Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 371 Pages with a Four-Page Bibliography. Light wear to cover corners and edges. No other defects noted to this tight, bright book with flawless interior text pages. This compilation of jokes, anecdotes, one-liners, and parables is the result of two lifetime experiences. One of those experiences has to do with the author's forty years of medical practice. The other has to do with forty plus more years of old fashioned human relations and the forging and accumulation of a lifetime of friendships. They are, perhaps, complementary experiences. While science and medicine are the critical elements of medicine, the human element is sometimes equally, if not of greater importance. Attitude often seems to carry the day for patients, and brought a healing that science and medicine alone seemed unable to accomplish. That healthy altitude associated with humor-with the ability to laugh at one's own infirmities is of paramount importance to physical healing. Humor is not laughing at others, but with others. The leading category in this book derives from the most ancient, still popular, common, and shared jokes, that have to do with Male and Female relations. Other categories follow as shown here. Contents in Seven Parts: Male Female Sex Urology Men Only Jokes Women's Jokes Sex Urology, Religion Philosophy Government Lawyers Patriotism Political, Sports Golf Baseball Basketball, Ethnic Jokes Aggie Cajun Bubba Redneck Irish Jewish, Numbers Tests, Seniors, and Miscellaneous. Don't look for political correctness here.

Seller: Barry Cassidy Rare Books, Sacramento, CA, U.S.A.
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Original publisher's beige-gray paper wrappers. Black lettering printed on front cover. No lettering on spine. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2." Ninety-eight pages, complete. Table of Contents in back. Pages are virtually pristine and intact except for light age toning and small residual pencil inscriptions on title page. Covers are clean and intact overall but have browning, chipping at corners (most apparent at head and tail of spine), and a few tiny stains along edges. A Very Good copy. Pamphlet about the national political parties and their platforms in the United States. Text is printed in a two-column format per page. Compiler J. M. H. Frederick notes in his Preface that he wanted to present a book about American political parties in a "popular" and easily understandable format. He writes that in this pamphlet, the platforms of each party are described as they appeared in presidential elections (and their predecessors) from the founding of the United States to 1896. He compiled the information in this book from Cooper's American Politics, The Writings of Prof. Alexander Johnston, Lalor's Encyclopedia of Political Science, Political Economy and United States History, Stanwood's History of Presidential Elections, The Political Prohibitionist for 1889, the Hand-Book of Prohibition for 1885, and various statistical and works and newspaper almanacs. Each subject in this pamphlet is discussed relatively briefly. The following are some of the parties or platforms discussed herein: the first platform, Virginia Resolutions of 1798, Kentucky Resolutions, Democratic-Republicans, Clintonian platform, the decline of the Federalists, Anti-Masonic Resolutions of 1830, 1836 parties, Whig Party, Democratic Party, Liberty Party, Buffalo Party, Free-Soil Party, American Party (Know Nothing Party), Republican Party, Constitutional Union Party, Democratic platforms of Stephen A. Douglas and John C. Breckinridge, Radical Republicans, Labor Reform platform, Prohibition platform, Greenback Propositions of 1874, American National platform, Prohibition Reform platform, Independent platform (or Greenback platform), National Liberal platform, Greenback-Labor platform, Union Labor platform, Industrial Reform platform, People's Party, Socialist Labor Party, and Silver platform. In the back is a list of the electoral and popular votes given to all U.S. presidential and vice presidential candidates from the administrations of George Washington to Benjamin Harrison (unfilled columns for the votes of the 1896 election are included; William McKinley and Garret A. Hobart would win).
