H. war Mitglied des "landwirthschaftlichen Vereines in Bayern (heute: Bayerischer Bauernverband) und der "practischen Gartenbaugesellschaft" zu Frauendorf sowie Inhaber mehrerer Vereins-Denkmünzen letztgenannten Vereins. H. verfasste mehrere Werke zur Obstbaum- und Bienenzucht. Erste und einzige Ausgabe (1866 erschien in New York (Pustet) anscheinend eine etwas vereinfachte und womöglich veränderte Ausgabe des Werks mit weniger Abbildungen und ohne Falttafeln).
