With four lively lithographic plates in two tones, showing a monkey riding a dog, a hippopotamus, as well as the castaway Robinsons, of course. Auguste Hadamard (1823-1886) was a painter and lithographer. The French translation is also attributed to Hadamard. Missing one endpaper, else internally fine, in publisher's pebbled cloth intricately stamped in gilt. A.e.g. Light rubbing to extremities, and light uniform toning to covers.       Condition: Very Good. Illustrated with 10 hand-colored lithographs, including the frontispiece, after Auguste Hadamard; plus additional engravings throughout the text. Quarter brown morocco over blindstamped cloth. Four raised bands and gilt compartments to spine. All edges gilt. Previous owner's inscription neatly to the front fly. Staining to endpapers. Front hinge cracking at foot of spine (see image), but board remains attached. Some wear to corners (see image), otherwise this remains a clean bright copy. Scarce Hadamard illustrated edition with currently only one copy located on OCLC. 5.5 x 8.25 in (14 x 21 cm). Auguste Hadamard (illustrator).
