Dust Jacket Condition: dj. First Edition. First Edition. Basis for the 1954 film noir "Shadow of Fear." Davis Dresser also wrote apart from his wife under the pseudonym Brett Halliday, best known for the long-running Mike Shayne series. Very Good plus in a Very Good dust jacket. Page edges faintly foxed, with slightly bumped spine ends. Jacket spine is vertically split, neatly repaired with Japanese tissue on the verso, and a few stray green ink marks to the rear panel.

Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. A Red Badge Detective title. The boards have some rubbing to edges and corners but are otherwise unmarked. Page edges and endpapers are browned. Traces of some writing in pencil to both the front and rear free endpapers but the pages are otherwise unmarked. No jacket. First printing.

First Edition. Ex-library with the usual stamps, evidence of a removed card pocket, etc., else near fine in a very good dust jacket with some slight dust soiling to the rear panel and a few small tears.

The book has an interesting inscription from the author, Hal Debrett, a pen name of Brett Halliday, who was married to mystery writer Helen McCloy. It reads: "East Hampton L. I. / 4-22-49 / For Grandmother / from McCloy / via her father. / Sincerely / Hal Debrett." Size: 8vo. Signed by Author.

First Edition. A lightly handled copy with some small tears to the top and bottom edges of the spine in a lightly dust soiled dust jacket with some rubbing to the flap folds and some small chips and tears.
