Line illustrations by Gavin Rowe. New foreword by Sir Geoffrey Cox. Blue boards, spine titled in silver-gilt. Very good copy in dust-wrapper. The Truim is a tributary of the Spey which runs close to the A9 in Inverness-shire. Hall's mandate from the series editors was to produce a "How to fish" guide to trout fishing in the lesser rivers of the Scottish Highlands. However he went far beyond that with a lyrical history of his long association with this particular stream and a cast-by-cast description of many miles of water. His preferred method was the dry fly and as he fishes upstream, almost from the confluence with the Spey to the distillery at Dalwhinnie, he describes every stone, twist and turn, with tales of trout caught and lost - some of them two- or three-pounders. There are a few diversions to Loch Ericht and other waters, but this is basically an intimate description of this one Highland stream. .
