Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 223 Pages Indexed. In American Westerns, the main characters are most often gunfighters, lawmen, ranchers and dancehall girls. Civil professionals such as doctors, engineers and journalists have been given far less representation, appearing as background characters in most films and fiction. However, in Westerns about the 1910 Mexican Revolution, civil professionals also feature prominently in the narrative, often as members of the intelligentsia--an important force in Mexican politics. This book compares the roles of civil professionals in most American Westerns to those in work on the 1910 Mexican Revolution. Included are studies on the Santiago Toole novels by Richard Wheeler, Strange Lady in Town with Greer Garson and La sombra del Caudillo by Martin Luis Guzman.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). As you can see, the orange covers are exceptionally clean. They have only a little wear, a little creasing at and around the top edge of the spine (see fifth photo). The book is square and solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are all exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling at all anywhere. Nor are there any markings or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. There is a very light and tiny crease or indent at the very tip of the top corners of the pages. This was likely caused by a mild bump. You can see it, but it's inconspicuous. The dust jacket is in solid condition. As is the case with the book there is some creasing at and around the top edge of the spine. There's also a thin crease off the top edge of the rear cover. There are no tears on the jacket. As you can see, it is very clean. It is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all, and will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. 'The Right Line tells the backstage story, unbelievable, frustrating, at times hilarious, of why Britain's high-speed line took so long, with so many false starts.' 'This story is not just about a railway line, it is a major and wide-ranging work of contemporary history, shining a powerful spotlight on Britain, the British and the way we are governed.'.

#37 OF A LIMITED EDITION OF 500 COPIES (ink handwritten copy# and limitation statement on page ii, i.e. the half-title verso). i-xii, 1-243 pages plus unpaged b/w plates. Hardcover: H 26cm x L 19.5cm. No dust jacket nor slipcase present (seems likely it would have been issued with at least one such embellishment). Blue patterned cloth rubbed; some fading mostly to spine and across top of front board; fraying to spine head; boards' fore-edge corners bumped particularly at bottoms; slender patches of white shelf paint adhered to boards' bottom edges. Gilt top edge; slender toning occurring along leaves' deckle fore-edges and deckle bottom edges. Front and rear free endpapers toned; a few scattered minor specks of soiling to interior leaves. Binding is firm. Still a handsome book. This copy is NOT signed by the author nor contributors with the inclusion of signatures being haphazard on the part of Norman Lindsay's Fanfrolico Press.
