Seller: Warren F. Broderick - Books, Troy, NY, U.S.A.
First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 2nd impression. large format octavo, 162 pp. plus a brief introduction. In this scarce work intended for landscape architects, the author provides extensive lists of trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, and annuals by such characteristics as habit, leafage, height, uses, growth, bark, flowers, fruit, soil, foliage, and season. There is some very neat pen writing in the text which mostly consists of annotations of the plant lists by the owner, Delia Foster. Blank leaves in the rear contain handwritten lists of plants intended for planting in a hemlock ravine suggesting the owner had been reading Roberts and Rehman's classic work on natural communities, American Plants for American Gardens. Other than the annotations, the book has slightly darkened end-papers but otherwise is in very good condition in plum cloth binding.
