Hannington went to Uganda as a Christian Missionary and was killed in 1885 at 38. There is a church named after him in Hove, England, near where he was born. Green covers with pink and light-green floral decoration and lettering to front and spine, 190pp with numerous b/w illustrations from Hannington's own African sketches. Dated 1917, 31st thousand. Foxing to early pages and edges. Spine weakening in places and one plate loose between pp118-119, strange round marks where something has been left in the book pp138-143, mild bumping to extremities and spine lettering fading, but still an attractive copy.
