Hardcover. Condition: As new. Quarto. Hardcover. Matte illustrated boards. No jacket, as issued. 319 pages : illlustrations (some color) ; 29 cm. "This catalogue offers the opportunity to discover the complete oeuvre of one of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century: Simon Hantaï. From the first paintings after Hantaï's arrival in Paris in 1948 to the pliage paintings, this publication, which covers sixty years of the painter's life and accompanies the first retrospective of Hantaï's work since 1876, reveals the complexity and extreme diversity of his creation: from the Surrealist paintings to the writing-paintings, from the Mariales (the first series of works created using the pliage or folding method) to the Laissées. Hantaï's approach is analyzed at each stage of its development. Essays, accounts by those closest to the artist, and a detailed chronology, as well as numerous hitherto unpublished illustrations, complement this first major reference work on the artist."--Page 4 of cover. Published on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, May 22-September 9, 2013./ Includes bibliographical references (pages 312-316).…

Softcover. Condition: Fine. Fine softcover (80 pages) & folded poster in hardcover slipcase ( Case: 13 × 18 inches (33 × 46 cm), Softcover: 12 1/2 × 17 3/4 inches (32 × 45 cm). This book was published on the occasion of Simon Hantaï: Azzurro at Gagosian, Rome. Curated by Anne Baldassari, the exhibition focused on the significance of blue in the artist's practice, illuminating his affinity with Italy and the influence on his work of its classical painting tradition. Azzurro featured work from throughout Hantaï's career and included many paintings produced using his characteristic pliage (folding) technique, in which a canvas is crumpled and knotted, painted over, and then unfolded to reveal a pattern of alternations between pigment and ground. Housed in a custom-made hardcover case, the publication includes a large-format, saddle-stitched book featuring "Azzurro Blue," an essay by Baldassari, as well as color reproductions of the works in the exhibition and archival photographs of Hantaï in his studio and at home. The case also contains a double-sided folded poster with Tabula (1976)one of several large-scale gridded works in blue that dominated the Rome gallery's ovoid main roomon one side and color illustrations documenting twenty-seven works from the exhibition on the reverse.…

Couverture souple. Condition: Comme neuf. 2ème Édition. Paris 2022. -- 2ème édition -- 1 Volume/1. -- Comme Neuf -- Broché collé. Couverture à rabats avec manchette. Format large in-4°( 28,6 x 23 cm )( 402 gr ). …
