Tears and some losses to heads of pages in places throughout with a couple requiring old tape repairs. Pencil annotations to contents pages. Hinges slightly weak in places internally. Pages lightly tanned throughout. This is a very heavy book and would require substantial extra postage for overseas delivery. 4to. lii, pp1-256 plus 33 plates.

The English author and translator Thomas Roscoe (1791-1871) partnered with artist James Duffield Harding (1798-1863) to produce this guide to Avignon, the Rhone Valley, Lyons, and much more. They also collaborated on The Tourist in Italy. That Harding was best known as an art teacher is indicated by the advertisement for his "Elementary Art; Or, the Use of the Lead Pencil" at rear.
