Intelligente et très cultivée, la quatrième fille et la sixième des enfants de Louis XV et de Marie Lecszynska fut aussi une mélomane raffinée. Elle défendit avec ardeur l'ordre des Jésuites et dénonça Voltaire auprès de Louis XV qui le fit éloigner de la Cour. Sa bibliothèque comptait plus de 10000 volumes qui furent vendus aux enchères pendant la Révolution. Jacques Hardion (Tours 1686-Versailles 1766), membre de l'Académie des inscriptions et Belles-lettres (1728) et de l'Académie française (1730), était le bibliothécaire du roi et de la famille royale à Versailles. Il traduisit Théocrite et Anacréon et fut l'auteur d'essais sur la littérature grecque. Très bel exemplaire en maroquin de l'époque.
