Original dark blue blind decorated cloth, re-backed, the original back strip, lettered in gilt, laid down to matching cloth. Small areas lacking from original back strip. New end papers, the hinges a little tight. A good sound copy. F.16382. (Ferguson indicates that the frontispiece of the 2nd. ed is a plate 'Planting the flag on the Shores of the Indian Ocean'. In this copy the original photograph portrait of Stuart is the frontispiece and the 'Planting the Flag . ' plate is found facing page 410).
