Primera edición.- Folio.- Encuadernado en tela verde, lomera y plano superior con estampaciones doradas, plano posterior, estampaciones en seco, cortes dorados.- XVI.- 1 hoja.- 242 páginas.- 1 lámina frontis, más 26 láminas fuera de texto, litografías iluminadas a mano. Primera y mejor edición que la segunda, que como indica Colas, solo contiene 16 láminas. Las láminas costumbristas, fueron dibujadas por E. Hardovin, y reflejan diferentes personajes de la Isla de Java, fueron litografiadas en Paris por Lemercier e iluminadas a mano en acuarela. El texto es obra de W. L. Ritter, con una introducción de H. M. Lange. Las 14 primeras páginas incluyen, la portadilla, 1 lámina frontis, la portada y la introducción de Lange. En la portada se hace constar que la obra contiene un mapa plegado, que a este ejemplar le falta. En cambio, en ninguna bibliografía, aparece la lámina frontis, que describimos y que está impresa también en litografía y en blanco y negro. Ejemplar con algún esporádico resto de humedad y óxido, la página 238 ha sido debidamente restaurada de un desgarro. Colas 1378 - Lipperheide 1507 - No en J. R. Abbey.
