Spine and front cover have decoration of a flaming torch with crossed sword and feather and central wreath; spine decoration is gilt. Spine ends bumped and rubbed; head of spine a bit frayed. Corners lightly rubbed. Top edges gilt. A few small stains on covers. Front endpaper has a research foundation stamp dated 1954, and over-stamped "cancelled". Rear free endpaper has stamped owner's name and date of 1971. Binding cracked near front, in center, and at rear. Webbing visible in front crack. Brown & white frontispiece has tissue guard with red descriptive lettering. Five other plates, and seven text maps. Interior pages are clean and unmarked.
