Reprint of the original 1907 French edition. Includes a translator's (Harold Wright) preface and preface to the original 1907 edition. With a 12-page introductory essay about Meryon, followed by the index. The etchings are divided into sections: Early Etchings (1849-1850), Nos. 1-16; View of Paris, Nos. 17-64; Various Views, Nos. 54-74; Portraits, Nos. 74A-86; and Frontispieces, Addresses, Rebuses, and Various Objects, Nos. 87-102. The final section consists of 3 plates wrongly attributed to Meryon. Each section includes the corresponding bw reproductions of the original engravings.Does NOT include the Amand Durand Apse of Notre Dame Heliogravure 1884.
