    Condition: Very Good +. 2 handwritten and printed deeds selling land in Delaware Township, Juniata County, to George Carpenter. #1: 44 x 57 cm., folded. Printed by John C. Clark, Philadelphia. On 27 Nov. 1850 Simon Harter and Anna, his wife, of Delaware Township, Juniata County, sold to George Carpenter, "mechanick," of West Caln Township, Chester County, for $750 103 acres in Delaware and Greenwood townships. Signed by Simon and Anna Harter, witnesses James M. Salles, Joseph K. Long, and justice of the peace William Cox, and Juniata County Recorder of Deeds B. Bonsall. #2: 47 x 59 cm., folded. Printed by Francis Wyeth, Harrisburg, Pa. On 29 Nov. 1854 John Landis and Charlotte, his wife, of Delaware Township, Juniata County, sold to George Carpenter, farmer of the same place, for $150 a tract of woodland on Cocolamus Creek containing 9 and 2/3rds acres. Signed by John Landis, witnesses Justice of the Peace Henry Cross and Elizabeth Stutts, and Juniata County Recorder of Deeds Alexander Magonagle with his embossed stamp. Charlotte Landis was illiterate and signed with her mark. Francis Wyeth (1806-1893) took over the family printing business from his father, John Wyeth (1770-1858. During the Civil War, Francis Wyeth served as head of the Quartermaster Department at Camp Curtin and on the state Hospital Commission which visited Union hospitals in the South. In Very Good+ Condition: #1 slight separation at intersections of folds; some of the signatures are faded; light creasing at corners; clean and bright; #2 light scattered staining; otherwise, clean and bright.
