As also, the husbandry of bees, with their several uses and annoyances, all being the experience of fourty and eight yeers labour, and now the second time corrected and much enlarged, by William Lawson. Whereunto is newly added by Simon Harward A Most Profitable New Treatise, from approved experience of the Art of propagating Plants followed by The Husband Mans Fruitfull Orchard, 1648. 8vo, approximately 190 x 140 mm, 7½ x 5½ inches, woodcut to title page repeated later, 5 plates of knot gardens, full page plan of an orchard, 2 text illustrations of trees and one small illustration of a straw bee hive, 4 tiny text illustrations, printer's woodcut device to title page of the Country House-Wives and colophon, decorated initials and headpieces. Pages: [8], 1-134, [1] - last leaf is original endpaper, printed notes to margins, bound in full recent speckled calf, gilt lettered green label, gilt decoration, rules and date between raised bands, new black endpapers. Pale age-browning throughout, 3 lower margins ragged due to paper fault, not affecting text, tiny burn hole affecting 1 letter, 4 pages at rear have small pale stain to outer margins, original free end paper slightly chipped and brown at edges, occasional small spot or mark. A very good copy. The Country Housewifes Garden is the first book written especially for women gardeners.
