The binding is straight and tight. There is wear to the bottom corners of the front and back boards. slight nibbling to the edges of the front board, marks to the front board, a darkened spine, a crease mark to the bottom corner of the back board and marks to the back board. The foxed end papers and toned edges are free from tears and inscriptions. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.

Jacket sadly tatty and backed onto white paper, top third of front jacket and whole of front flap torn away, edge wear, chipping, closed tears and loss to top and bottom of classic Hodder yellow jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed with loss, overall dust and time staining, contents slightly shaken. Price gone with front flap, no inscriptions, some dust staining to page fore edges, some faint spotting to endpapers, otherwise internally quite clean square and tight, overall obviously a well loved and much read copy. 1041pp. George Valentine Williams (1883-1946), is nearly forgotten now. He was an English journalist, intelligence officer, actor, lecturer and screenwriter. Four tales of 'The Man with the Clubfoot', one of the most ingenious and sinister secret agents in Europe, and his opponent Desmond Okewood. Quite a scarce book.
