Jacket sadly tatty and backed onto white paper, top third of front jacket and whole of front flap torn away, edge wear, chipping, closed tears and loss to top and bottom of classic Hodder yellow jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed with loss, overall dust and time staining, contents slightly shaken. Price gone with front flap, no inscriptions, some dust staining to page fore edges, some faint spotting to endpapers, otherwise internally quite clean square and tight, overall obviously a well loved and much read copy. 1041pp. George Valentine Williams (1883-1946), is nearly forgotten now. Four tales of 'The Man with the Clubfoot', one of the most ingenious and sinister secret agents in Europe, and his opponent Desmond Okewood. Quite a scarce book.
