Édition originale de ce récit d'un voyage imaginaire par le poète et écrivain belge Eric de Haulleville (1900-1941), le petit-fils de Prosper et le fils d'Alphonse De Haulleville, et aus…si le beau-frère du célèbre écrivain Aldous Huxley. Proche du poète Odilon-Jean Périer, de Haulleville connaît les premières manifestations surréalistes à Bruxelles et Paris où il rencontre Jean Cocteau et André Breton. Après un livre poétique ('Dénoûement') et une «curieuse» autobiographie ('Le genre épique'), il publie en 1934 'Le Voyage aux îles Galapagos', aussitôt récompensé du Prix Albert Ier. Par sa désinvolture littéraire et son érudition, l'auteur rappelle son contemporain, Henri Michaux. Pendant l'entre-deux-guerres, il est l'un des écrivains francophones les plus prometteurs de Belgique.'Tirage limité à 50 exemplaires, un des 48 exemplaires numérotés sur Hollande Pannekoek et illustrés d'une photo originale de Rose Nys, la future épouse de l'auteur et soeur de Maria Nys qui etait mariée avec Aldous Huxley. Enrichi d'un bel envoi de l'auteur à sa soeur Marie-Louise: 'A Lisy que j'aime parce que son coeur est un buisson ardent et ses yeux se peuplent de végétations, d'hieroglyphes, de bêtes familières ou fantastiques, son frère Eric.'.

The author was a Belg…ian poet and writer who died in France during World War Two, shortly after his daughter Olivia's birth. Minor rubs to the corners, a tiny, unobtrusive scuff to one edge, and a few spots (made less obvious by the design), but generally crisp.
