Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Hays was the Gerald Wingrove of his day, the master scratch-model maker who's creations were habitually used by motor clubs as trophies at the time - hence the title. The most famous now is probably the POMEROY MEMORIAL fought for every spring in a unique event at Silverstone. This book tells the tale of each model from ERA to Bentley, how it was built, and what the original car stood for, did and how it related to the trophy he created in it's likeness. Most unusual book and hard to describe satisfactorily! Very good condition book and jacket with some edge and corner wear and a small hole on the back cover/spine/hinge area , 165 pages.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Unusual book about the master scratch-builder of model racing cars, Rex Hays who's work was used widely in the 1950s and 60s for motor club trophies and award. He also built slot cars and other such devices. This book goes through the process of desiging and building as well as the reason for the model and what became of it, using the following cars/awards as exmples of 'how it's done' : ERA Clun Trophy (ERA). Joe Fry Trophy (Freikasierwagen) , Two Bentley le Mans winners (1927 and 1930), Jaguar D Type presented to HRH Prince Charles, St John Horsfall Trophy (Aston Martin .Present for the former King of Iraq (Mercedes SSK) etc etc. Very good book and jacket but the jacket does have a bit of staining from tpe that had been put on the back and has leeched through a little.
