Contient de très nombreuses biographies de médecins et l'histoire de "la réunion des médecins de Paris en compagnies, celles de leurs privilèges et des établissements qu'ils ont créés pour l'amélioration de l'enseignement et pour les progrès de l'art. Des recherches immenses ont fourni les matériaux de cette précieuse collection, à laquelle l'auteur a donné le titre modeste de notice." (Quérard IV, 46). Sous l'ancien régime les amateurs désirant faire relier leurs livres dans une reliure de leur choix commandaient aux éditeurs des volumes en « pré-reliure » papier cuve ou papier dominotier. Notre exemplaire est dans une reliure simple de « pré-reliure papier cuve ». A noter : Déchirure limitée mordant le haut du recto verso de la page 3(4) [Tableau de la faculté de médecine de Paris]. Cet accident localement très limité n'altère pas l'intérêt historique de l'ouvrage et sa riche information en 270 pages. Papier du dos retiré. Bords des plats effrangés. Feuillets légèrement gondolés. Attaches des nerfs solides. État intérieur du papier très convenable. Malgré les défauts signalés exemplaire convenable de ce document d'époque en édition originale.
