The book has some light external wear, sections from the dustjacket tipped onto the verso of the front free endpaper, recto of preliminary blank, and dedication page, book reviews tipped onto rear endpapers. In addition, there are handwritten notes taped onto the final blank and rear free endpaper concerning the relationship, both professional and friendly, between the author's family and that of the book's last owner, with a gift inscription by the writer of the notes to the book's most recent owner completing the reference.
