End-papers are more notably heavily. Previous owner's inscription to half title. Some occasional moderate cracking to gutters throughout, exposing binding material, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends, with fraying cloth and small splits. Book has a moderate forward lean. Gilt lettering has become dull. Board corners are bumped, with some loss to cloth.

Sentimental children's story of a Gipsy girl and Victorian poverty with fine Christian morality demonstrated towards the end. Forst published in 1884 it went through many editions. This present copy bears a small presentation inscription to the ffep dated 1903. 159pp, frontis illustration and two further full-page illustrated plates. All illustrations in b&w. Four page publisher's Catalogue at back. Text bloc is very well preserved - clean, white pages on thicker paper than usual. Binding is tight, hinges sound. Illustrated front cover and spine.
