paperback. Condition: Good. Dublin NH: William L. Bauhan, 1981. First edition. SIGNED. Inscribed and dated: "For Edward H. Dodd, Jr. / Direct from the Author, / Heman Chase / October 14, 1982 / A pleasant day to survey." Surveyor, author, watermill operator, and local historian Chase (1901-1988) lived and worked in East Alstead, NH. Edward H. Dodd, Jr. (1905-1988) was president and chairman of the publishing firm Dodd, Mead; his permanent residence was in Putney VT, about 20 miles from Chase's NH home. It's plausible that Chase took Dodd on a surveying expedition (see chapter on Heman Chase in Donald Hall's book "Here at Eagle Pond"). This softcover book is tight and sound but has discoloration to the cover, stains to page edges, and ½" tear at base of spine. No internal markings other than inscription. Book.
