Henken and numerous black and white photographs by David T. Henken. A fine copy in cloth boards with black and white image inset into the front cover. No dust jacket as issued. Signed and inscribed by the children of the Henkens. Uncommon thus.

Pages have pictures of animals and color-coded letters to spell the animal's name. Flip the book for black and white pictures and letters. Minor chips in cardboard along extremities. Back cover has 3-inch scrape plus wear at fold. All pages intact. 23 pp.

Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very unusal teaching aid for spelling, binding is a metal spiral along the top and bottom, book is divided into two parts horizontally. The upper third is a series of animal illustrations, the bottom third are letters, allowing the teacher to spell the word letter by letter by flipping the letters until they spell the animal's name. Both metal spirals intact, cover colors bright, 1 inch area of paper missing on the rear cover, color bright, instruction page on the bottom third (immediately under the lower front cover) is starting to detach from the spiral but holding, light corner wear. No names, no page marking. This is a very rare children's book. There are only two others listed on the OCLC.
