Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. [PHOTOGRAPHY] [MAGAZINE] [CALIFORNIA] Henry Brimmer, editor and publisher. Forty-five (45) issues of the photography magazine Photo Metro (published in San Francisco, California), an incomplete run dating from October 1986 (Vol 5 Issue 43) to February 1995 (Vol 13 Issue 125). Issues measure 10.75 x 14.5 inches. Printed on newspaper quality paper, condition ranges from VG to VG+. [24-564] According to an article by Mark Alice Durant, originally published in the catalog Collected (San Francisco: Pier 24 Photography, 2016), in the early 1980s "Henry Brimmer co-founded Photo Metro, a free monthly magazine devoted to articles, interviews and portfolios. Printed on newsprint and distributed widely, Photo Metro published for 13 years and had a circulation of 15,000, bringing exposure to the work of established and merging artists from all over the world." Actually, for most of the time of its duration (circa 1982-1985), Photo Metro was published ten times per year with two double-month issues. Interesting interviews with photographers; reviews of photo exhibitions; featured photographers' portfolios; and historical articles, often with a bent toward California and San Francisco Bay Area photographers, made Photo Metro a critical photographic magazine in the 1980s and early 1990s. The contemporary scene was covered along with the likes of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Imogene Cunningham.
