Merz sc.") in Band 2 sowie einem weiteren von dessen Vater, des Orientreisenden Carsten Niebuhr ("Stdr. v. A. Kneisel"), in Band 3. - Frühe Lebensbeschreibung des bedeutenden Althistorikers und Mitbegründers der philologisch-kritischen Geschichtswissenschaft. Das Werk wurde anonym von seiner Schwägerin Dore Hensler herausgegeben, mit der Niebuhr einen "sein ganzes Leben dauernden Seelenbund" gepflegt hatte (Heinrich Nissen, in ADB 23, 1886), und versammelt Beiträge seiner Schüler und Freunde, darunter Johannes Classen, Christian Karl Josias von Bunsen, Joachim Dietrich Brandis und auch Friedrich von Savigny. - Exemplare aus der Bibliothek und mit den Stempeln der Abtei Maria Laach. An den Rücken mit leichten Klebespuren von Signaturetiketten. Innen vereinzelte Seiten leicht gebräunt. Ansonsten sauber und gut erhalten.
