Seller: The Bookworm, Oroville, CA, U.S.A.
Hardbound. Condition: Very Good. Book of the Month Club Edition. Description: The jacket art is not credited (artist's initials ?ch); I might guess author/artist Erick Berry as the illustrator, as she was married to Herbert Best and did illustrate some of his books, but those initials don't work for her. A novel set in the Adirondack country just after the American Revolution. Three children are left on their own after their mother is killed, their house burned down, and their father disappeared into the forest. The two brothers shoulder the responsibility and the hard work, alongside their tomboy little sister called Young'un. This is a wartime edition, with the compliance statement on the copyright page. BINDING/CONDITION: green cloth burgundy spine decorations; a Very Good book with a Very Good- dust jacket; the jacket art is clean with very good color. 8vo (about 8.5 inches tall). 271 pages.
