First published 1925; first illustrated edition 1934. In very good minus tan cloth boards, image of green birds to front; dark brown spine with gilt titles. The boards are flat, a little marked around the edges and very firm; spine and edges strong. Unmarked end papers; tiny buff-coloured bookseller's sticker from Poyser & Co, Colchester on front paste down. The text block is illustrated in black and white by C Walter Hodges. The artist is not credited in the titles, but a previous owner has written on a prelim:"illustrations by C Walter Hodges in 1933-34". The pages are very tightly bound and level; the cut edges are slightly tanned and the prelims and pages towards the rear are a little tanned and marked. Dedication on a prelim. Very good minus condition. Without jacket. Rare edition.
