Soft cover. Condition: Fine. First Edition. 1st printing. 4to illustrated wrap. 63pp. Splendidly illustrated in b/w with Siebner's drawings and prints, and accompanied by Skelton's poems. Skelton was a nationally acclaimed Canadian writer and Siebner a nationally acclaimed Canadian artist. We note that, although this copy is fine, a previous owner taped (one piece) a color cutout from a magazine or gallery catalogue of a Siebner painting with the words, "Herbert Siebner, R. C. A." on it. Your bookseller can carefully remove it on the buyer's request, if desired. Quite scarce now.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Limited Edition. Limited and only edition. 4to cloth. The renowned Victoria, British Columbia, German abstract expressionist artist, Herbert Siebner, in 1967 collaborated with his friend, the Canadian poet, Robin Skelton, on a limited edition fine book, INSCRIPTIONS. It was printed in Victoria by Morriss Printing and contained 14 drawings by Siebner, each one hand-coloured in each of the 100 copies. On each facing page is a poem by Skelton. This copy is an unnumbered copy given by Skelton to his friend and colleague, Thomas Kinsella. I have no documentary provenance for this in terms of the last name, Kinsella," only the word of the previous owner/dealer in Ireland, but I have no personal doubts about it being a presentation copy if this were to be retained in my personal library. Laid in is a scan of printed information from the original prospectus, which does not accompany this copy. SIGNED ON THE LIMITATION PAGE BY SKELTON AND SIEBNER, This copy is very good and perhaps near fine depending on who's doing the grading. It lacks the clear plastic plain wrapper. There is slight wear at the two bottom fore corner cover points with a bit of fabric exposed on one. There is a slight musty odor, but in my opinion is should only be a problem for a particularly sensitive nose. The boards of this book tend to bow a little. A brief Internet search will tell you about the recent art theft in Victoria (Spring 2022) of some $10 million of fine art which has been recovered. Over 20 Siebners were recovered by police. This is the rarest book associated with Herbert Siebner. Rare.
