Erstausgabe. Erzählt werden die Abenteuer der niederländischen Kinder Katrina und Jan. Alle Handlungen der 14 Kapitel spielen in Holland. Die Abbildungen sind außerordentlich detailreich und farbintensiv. Die kunstvollen Vorsätze in blau und weiß sind holländischen Fliesenornamenten nachempfunden. Der Einband ist deutlich bestoßen. Der Buchrücken wurde verstärkt. Es findet sich eine fingernagelgroße, umkreiste Farbläsion auf dem vorderen Buchdeckel (siehe Foto). Einige Lagen des Buchblockes sind gelockert.
