April 1685, als Sohn eines Arztes in Hannöversch-Minden, studirte in Leipzig, und Jena, war hier besondersauch mit anatomischen Studien und Secirübungen beschäftigt, promovirte an letztgennanter Universität 1707, eröangte 10 Jahre später ide Professur der Experimentalphysik in Jena, wurde 1710 Professor e.o. der Medicin und 1727 ord. Professor der Botanik, Chirurgie und Anatomie daselbst. In dieser Stellung verblieb Teichmeyer, der auch den Titel eines Weimarischen Leibarztes hatte, bis zu seinem 5. Febr. 1746 erfolgten Tode. Das wichtigste Werk Teichmeyer's, das seinen eigentlichen Hauptruhm begründet hat, ist die von ihm herausgegebene Bearbeitung der gesammten Staatsarzneikunde, betitelt: "Institutiones medicinae legalis et forensis". Bemerkenswerth ist noch, das Teichmeyer schon vor Hellot die sympathetische (Kobalt-) Tinte erfand. Uebrigens war Teichmeyer Lehrer und späterter Schwiegervater Albrecht Haller's."
