The book later appeared in the Biederstein Verlag, Munich, dated 1949. The C.H. Beck edition, undated, seems to precede that, [1948] according to the NUC. F. H. Heinemann commented in his 1951 review: "Friedmann distinguishes between Optik, which includes acoustics, and Haptik, but connects their difference at once with the distinction between Euclidean geometry and topology. He maintains that modern physics from Galileo was essentially tactual, but he prefers the visual world in which Gestalten form the primary data and which is said to be richer and, in a certain sense, more fundamental than the tactual world. [. ] It is a sort of Goethean morphological idealism which attempts to replace the mathematical notion of magnitude (Grösse) by the morphological term Gestalt.".
