El Corpus Hermeticu…m está formado por una serie de diecisiete textos ?entre los que fi gura el famoso Poimandres?, que por vez primera aparecen como colección en el siglo XIV, siendo su origen griego y de fecha difícil de datar. En relación con el Asclepius, se trata de un texto de origen latino atribuido a Apuleyo, aunque es una traducción de un texto anterior. En cuanto a su contenido, es clara la impronta platónica y pitagórica sobre la base de una enseñanza esotérica que sin duda provenía del viejo Egipto. Es patente asimismo el carácter casi sagrado que estos textos tuvieron, puesto de manifi esto por el hecho de que sus anónimos autores compusieron estos diálogos como si fuera el propio dios Hermes el que instruía a sus discípulos.
