    Quarto, quarter black morocco with yellow boards, gilt lettering to spine, 156pp, tipped in illustration plates. A privately printed 1954 memoir in which automobile and car-rental magnate John D. Hertz recounts his life as a Thoroughbred owner and breeder, organized by racing writer Evan Shipman, with first-person accounts of Reigh Count, Count Fleet, and mid-century American racing circles. This copy is part of the limited edition, but not numbered on the limitation page. This copy with a gift inscription on the front endpaper, possibly by the author's son, John Hertz Jr: "To Mike, With the knowledge that my father would have wanted him to have this book. With warmest regards, [signature illegible]." Bit of fading along upper edge of covers, hint of foxing to endpapers and text block edges, a very good copy. …
