Set in the college town of Mayfield, this sci-fi apocalyptic tale was one of the 35 titles in Winston's Science Fiction set for teenage readers in the late 1950s. Orig. published in Mar. 1958, this is the Second Printing from June 1959.… Condition is conservatively VG+: extremely clean, binding tight & square, slightly off-white pages, but completely unmarked. Slight bumping to corners & both ends of spine, old bookstore stamp glued inside front cover. The unclipped DJ is bright & colorful, downgraded to VG- due to modest edgewear (small chips) & rubbing to extremities, light soil to rear cover. Stain from old price sticker on front flap. Dj retains bright color to front panel and spine illustration; some nicks and short tears at edges; foxing to rear panel and both f…laps; both flaps have trimmed corners but front flap retains publisher's printed price ($2.50) at top right; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Blue cloth with light mottling; slight fraying at spine head; minor bumping to boards' top fore-edge corners. Foxing/toning to edges and endpapers (the latter not being illustrated which contrasts to the majority of the series); interior text pages remain clean. Binding is firm.
