Paperback. Condition: New. Corin Hewitt's performative installations use exhibition spaces as sites for production. Integrating process and display strategies, Hewitt offers viewers the simultaneous encounter of an artwork and the action that brought it to be. This book, published after the artist's exhibition at MOCA Cleveland,… brings together the documentation of seven installations, produced from 2007 up to the 2013, including preparatory sketches, process shots, exhibition documentation, and discrete photographic works. This visual mass helps understand Hewitt's practice as a continuum of interconnected actions and materializations, instances of generative discovery and contextual play.

Hard Cover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Oblong format book, unpaginated with 75 color photos taken by Corin Hewitt during his installation Weavings: Performance #2 at Small A Projects in September, 2007. Front cover has a belly band with a dye extracted from red cherries and cabbage and applied by Mr. Hewitt at the printer's fac…ilities in Seoul. Back cover contains a pocket with two booklets: one an essay by Marisa Sanchez and the other an interview with Mr. Hewitt by Michael Brenson. All in Fine condition. During a three-week residency at Portland, Oregon s Small A Projects in 2007, New York-based artist Corin Hewitt, born in 1971, constructed an elaborate workspace within the gallery, complete with a kitchen, photo studio and theater in which the apron-wearing artist performed a series of tasks--cooking, sculpting, eating and weaving--as gallery visitors viewed him through a peephole. Merging elements representing both the contemporary and the historic Northwest, Hewitt transformed such materials as baskets, fabric, canned food, fresh vegetables and grass--as well as elements from the first performance in this ongoing series--into hybridized objects. The 75 color photographs in this book, all taken on-site by Hewitt, document the performance. Combining the sculptural with the theatrical, the photographic with the performative, Hewitt s innovative work has also been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Seattle Art Museum and Taxter Spengemann gallery in New York.

[unpaginated]; 22.1 x 14.5 cm.; sewn bound; black-and-white; edition size unknown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed "109 Stackheads reproduces 109 drawings, the contents of a sketch-book filled by Benkert between May 27th and June 17th, 2000. The "Stackheads" of the title, so named by his friend Frank Owen, identify the o…utline resembling a squared head with ears that Benkert used to frame the highly worked, amazingly varied interiors. Individually they will seem pure abstractions, but taken collectively they might be read as representations of the interior weather of the human head." -- publisher''''s statement. Very Good / Fine. Light edgewear. Discrete small rubber stamp logo inside rear endpapers, otherwise contents clean and unmarked.
