Ordinarily, another example of the nineteenth century's penchant for writing about religion on into infinity, but, in this instance, of slightly more interest for the contribution of Rev. Heygate, who evolved, over several decades, as the author of a number of works of literature and of fantasy, and parables and similar flights of the imagination. A good+ to Very Good copy.

Original Cloth. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. 245pp. A very scarce copy of this book as a first edition. Original publishers cloth with gilt embossed lettering to the spine of the book and embossed design to the boards. All edges coloured red. Light rubbing to the corners and to the edges of the spine - head and tail with some loss of a couple of mm to the head and tail. There is a repaired split to the cloth along the length of most of the spine of one joint. There is also a split to the cloth - just below the title on the spine - original publisher's brown cloth. The boards remain firm and tight. Neat name ink inscription to the title page. The book is surprisingly clean and tight. A very good minus copy.
