A Very Good set. Elephant folios, illustrated with numerous engraved plates and etchings, some in color, with guards. Bound in period helf-calf, with marbled paper over boards. Red and black morocco title and volume labels, on the spine. Elaborately marbled end papers (note: both volumes have matching bindings, end papers, markings, etc.). t.e.g. Vol. 1 has a weak front hinge. moderate edhe wear, with vol.2 having a small area on the front joint with a circular tear. 1890's donation bookplate on the front paste downs. A Very Good set, with Good + bindings and Near Fine contents and plates. *** Printed on a heavy stock, artisianal paper, manufactured by Jules Claye. Many of the plates are found in a duplicate state, with the first plate being on a heavy stock, and the second plate (of the same image) being on a lighter, more ephemeral paper. This, of course, gives the same work a drastically different feel and texture. **** Note: International orders only will require additional postage****.
