Original brown wrappers. Very good. On burns and scalding. Wilhelm Fabry (also William Fabry, Guilelmus Fabricius Hildanus, or Fabricius von Hilden), often called the "Father of German surgery", was the first educated and scientific German surgeon. He is one of the most prominent scholars in the iatromechanics school and author of 20 medical books. His Observationum et Curationum Chirurgicarum Centuriae, published posthumously in 1641, is the best collection of case records of the century and gives clear insight into the variety and methods of his surgical practice. He developed novel surgical techniques and new surgical instruments. He also wrote a notable treatise on burns (this work).

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.

The author offers intricate details on the diverse classifications and etiologies of these ailments, exploring their origins in the body's imbalances of hot and cold, dry and moist qualities, and the obstruction of vital spirits. Comprehensive explanations are provided on the methods of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment for both gangrene and Sphacelus, including surgical techniques for limb amputation when necessary. The author also discusses the role of hidden qualities and occult forces in these conditions, as understood in historical medical practice. This book is a valuable resource for medical practitioners and historians seeking a deep understanding of these historically significant health concerns. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Add to basketPaperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book, which was written by a skilled surgeon of the early 17th century, collects a series of case studies that were discovered among a physician's papers after his death. These accounts describe a range of conditions observed in patients over many years, including abscesses, tumors, wounds, urinary and digestive issues, and sexually transmitted diseases. The raw observations are laid bare for the modern reader to gain a glimpse into the conditions, treatments, and challenges faced by both patients and medical practitioners during this era. The author includes his own insights and commentary alongside the historical case studies, which provides a unique perspective on the development of surgical knowledge during this time. Beyond its historical value, this book offers a window into the lives of people from centuries ago and the illnesses and accidents that afflicted them.
