Decorative volume in Very good - Fine condition, leather a little faded. Slight scattered foxing. A very fine copy of this new edition, illustrated by Gustave Doré with 341 woodcut compositions, including numerous hors-texte plates. It follows that of 1860, the first in-8 edition and the first with this title. The work had been published under the title "Voyage aux eaux des Pyrénées" in 1855, in-18 with 64 woodcut vignettes by Gustave Doré; in the 1860 edition, 9 of the woodcuts published in 1855 are not included. (Louis Dézé-p.58). Full-page woodcuts are included in the pagination. Famous travelogue in the Pyrenees, admirably illustrated by Gustave Doré (Labarère). (Vicaire VII-727; Dendaletche-1748) "Here is a trip to the Pyrenees, my dear Marcelin - writes Taine in his dedication -; I have been there; it is a merit: many people have written about it from their homes.
