Even with the availability of high quality bearing steel, new alloys and heat treatments, it has not yet become possible to achieve the improved performance of the bearings under the most demanding operating conditions against higher wear and corrosion resistance, etc. Hence, coatings of bearings play a role to solve this. This book,therefore, provides an integrated experimental approach to analyze the appropriateness of TiN (Titanium Nitride) and AlCrN (Aluminium Chromium Nitride) coats for the outer ring of roller bearings. Time domain signals are collected for worn-out proposed coating cases.Kurtosis values extracted from IMFs of EMD tool revealed better diagnostic facts compared to those of unprocessed signals. Tribology studies are also carried out to observe the wear and friction behavior of coatings followed by the morphology and EDS analysis.This book provides young researchers an ideal situation where various methods can be used simultaneously thereby improving wear diagnostic data. 64 pp. Englisch.
