The author relates how he, as a special representative of the U. S. Department of State, tried to rescue Jews from the Balkans. Signed presentation from Hirschmann on the front endpaper, to author Anita Loos.: "For Anita. Who was a blonde life-line when I needed it. Sincerely, Ira Hirschmann. 4/30/48." Of course, Loos is best known for "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." News clipping about this book tipped to rear pastedown, presumably by Loos or Hirschmann.
