This is a reprint of John Frederick Morse's history of Sacramento which he first wrote in 1853. Also included is a Historical Note by Caroline Wenzel in which she provides some biographical details about Morse's life. In the back is a brief Historical Sketch about Sacramento by J. Horace Culver which he first wrote in 1851. Notably, Culver published Sacramento's first city directory. Excerpt from back colophon: "One hundred and sixty copies of this work have been printed for the members of The Sacramento Book Collectors Club under the supervision of George T. Smisor, instructor in printing at the Sacramento College. As a class project in fine printing, the typesetting, page makeup, and printing were done by the following students: James Abraham, Alex Battistella, Bernard Feinberg, Joseph Matranga, Donald Nepstead, Norman Piece. .
