The author encountered several challenges in preparing the machine for testing, including designing a new piston and resolving issues with the pencil motion mechanism. After making necessary adjustments, the author conducted a series of tests using different oils and speeds to determine the friction loss in the machine. The results showed that the machine was not sensitive enough to provide accurate and reliable measurements of friction. The author concludes that the machine, in its current design, is not suitable for the purpose of measuring friction loss in internal combustion engines.
