Labeled Cardstock. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Text/BRAND NEW. Indigo softcover/VG w/trace surface wear & fading to spine. PO stamp upper text edge & page preceding title page. This review of secondary school geometry instruction was the subject of the author's doctorate dissertation. Pointing out that the USA [then] was "the only developed country in the world that teaches a whole year of synthetic [Euclidian] geometry, and no other mathematics in the 10th year," he joins others in lamenting the content of instruction which "makes litle or no use of coordinates and algebraic methods." Surely an educational misstep in that the 8th and 9th years are devoted to algrebra. The paper suggests points of contact between the disciplines, gives lively mathematical examples, reviews current thinking within the community of math educators, and makes recommendations. 236 (+ vii) pages (printed recto only), with illustrations, Bibliography, and 3 Appendixes. Covers show scant shelf use; stamp of prior owner on page prior to title page; text is strong and clean.
